Corby

Tollers Solicitors opened its first Corby solicitors office in 1967. The original office was located in the old Village at 57 High Street. In the same year the British steel industry was nationalised and the Stewarts & Lloyds steel tube works became part of the British Steel Corporation. As the town grew during this period so did the need for a wide variety of legal services.

Due to the growth of the steel industry many Scottish families relocated to Corby for work, leading to Corby being dubbed Little Scotland, a name it still retains today.

According to Wikipedia there is a crater on Mars named after Corby, which was discovered in the late 1970s. The reason for this was due to a comment made by the crew of the Apollo 11 mission in 1969 following news that a local Corby man had won the World Porridge Eating championships. More recently, Corby has undergone a large regeneration process which has seen the opening of Corby railway station, located in the heart of Corby Old Village – Tollers current office backs onto the station. In 2009 the Corby International Pool was opened and the Corby Cube building opened in 2010. The Cube is home to Corby Borough Council offices and also houses a 450-seat theatre, a public library and other community amenities.

During Tollers 50 plus years in the town the firm has gone from strength to strength and moved in 2006 to its current home in Exchange Court. This move was to facilitate the growing requirements of local clients, both from a personal point of view and also to serve the business community. The move also facilitated the growth of the Corby Conveyancing teams as the Town grew to accommodate the influx of people moving from London to the County.
